Pranayama, Mudras and Yoga an update well overdue

It has been a long time since my last post. The reason is, life can get busy, we move and change and explore new things. We get older, and some things fall away, and new things take their place.

My life has changed a lot, and since moving to Estonia, new challenges and experiences have kept me from writing blog posts. But without breathing, there is no life, and even so, I do not sit down as such in meditation to practice pranayama; I take a short break when needed and focus on my breathing throughout the day. I use my breath to calm down during stressful times; it helps me centre and ground myself. Slowing down my breathing and focusing on my breath, I come back to it whenever I feel the need. And I am grateful for the opportunity to learn various pranayamas, which help me throughout my day, week, or month.

Mudras I still use a lot, not on a regular or routine basis, but I may stop and use a mudra to get my blood pressure down after a bit of excitement or a stressful situation. I use a mudra for a few minutes when my joints stiffen, after gardening, or after a fall and injury. When I use mudras, of course, I also focus on my breath and become more mindful again. It all goes hand in hand.

I am now 66 years old. My arthritis is minimal; I have managed it really well. I only feel it on rare occasions, so I am pleased with it.

My eyesight is the same. I don't have any problems with it; it's not different from 10 years ago, which makes me happy.

Migraines, I never looked back; they have gone, and I have been free of them for a long time now. What a blessing!

I never had any issues with my sciatica again; even so, at the end of 2024, I had a nasty fall on the right side of my back, tearing all my muscles and tendons. It was a harrowing experience, but I recovered well at home. All I needed was an initial hospital visit for X-rays to make sure nothing was broken. Pain management was with herbs only, and using breath and mudras to calm my nervous system.

My only issue is a lack of motivation and discipline to get back into yoga to strengthen my back and stomach muscles; it feels like a real chore.

I have started a new blog called Babshealing messages to offer some insights into my spiritual journey. We grow, we evolve, and the challenges never really stop, but we get stronger, find more tools and end up with the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
